Code of Conduct

General conduct Guidelines

  • Only pre-registered students may attend.

  • No cellphones or other electronic devices will be allowed to be used during the event unless deemed an emergency.

  • Dressy attire is required when not dressed in theme. If attire does not adhere to attire guidelines, students will be asked to request a change of clothing from home.  No chewing gum is allowed.

  • Students will have the opportunity to dance with many partners and are expected to treat their partners with respect and empathy.  Students are expected to comply with the directions of the instructors at all times.

  • Students are expected to remain on the premises during designated dance hours.  An authorized adult must bring and pick up students at stated times. Promptness is essential.  Orinda Cotillion cannot assume responsibility for students beyond the designated hour.

Students should arrive and be picked up promptly. Electronic devices will be checked in prior to class and returned before dismissal. Students will not be allowed to leave during class time unless a parent is present or a written note is sent to the dance instructor. The chaperones and dance instructors will not be responsible for the behavior of students prior to or after class.

In Class Conduct

Courtesies of social dancing, thoughtfulness and consideration of others in a social atmosphere will be stressed as an important part of instruction. Disruptive, disrespectful, inattentive behavior is unacceptable. If a student’s behavior is inappropriate for the class (as determined by either instructor or chaperones), parents will be called immediately and the student will be asked to leave and not return unless accompanied by a parent. If a student’s attire does not adhere to attire guidelines, the student will be asked to request a change of clothing be brought to the event by a parent/guardian.
