Chaperone Sign Up 2023 - 2024

Thank you for your interest in chaperoning!   Orinda Cotillion could not run smoothly without your help! Please read below for more information about the role of chaperoning.

Due to the popularity of these events, we ask that you sign up for just ONE of the dates at this time to give others the opportunity to help out. If we need more volunteers, we will let you know.

Chaperone Role Description

  • Pre-dance: Chaperones are asked to supervise the kids before they come in, oversee name tag distribution, manage dress code issues and greet kids in a receiving line as they enter the dance hall.

  • During the dance: Chaperones monitor the bathrooms, dance with kids to balance the ratios (on rare occasion) and supervise kids at intermission

  • Post-dance: Chaperones are asked to manage the exit receiving line, monitor kids outside until they are picked up, clean up any dropped name tags and personal items left behind and pack up the chaperone box.

  • Chaperones are asked to arrive 15 minutes prior to the dance starting time (6:15pm for early dance, 8:15pm for late dance) and stay 15 minutes after the dance end (7:45 for first dance and 10:15 for late dance) to help manage arrival and departure. Please note which session your child is attending prior to signing up so last minute changes aren’t necessary.

  • Please check in with the chaperone lead upon arrival to receive instructions.

  • Chaperones are asked to adhere to Orinda Cotillion dress code.
